Landing
The lake's old front door
7% below Roxbury's township-wide median of $134,519.
Landing was built as a resort gateway. From the 1880s through the 1940s, Lackawanna trains, the Morris Canal, lake steamboats and trolleys all converged at Lake Hopatcong station, and thousands of summer visitors came through every season.
Hopatcong State Park sits within Landing at the lake's outlet. Water here does not go to the Raritan at all — it leaves Lake Hopatcong by the Musconetcong and ends up in the Delaware.
Today Landing mixes waterfront property with modest housing set back from the shore. Interstate 80 forms its southern edge, separating it from Ledgewood.
- Lake Hopatcong station — rail, canal, steamboat and trolley hub
- Hopatcong State Park (opened 1922)
- Drains to the Delaware via the Musconetcong
